Spice Mixers is a Vienna-based collective working with music, dance, art & awareness work to create safer and accessible dancefloor spaces for queer and transgender BIPoC (Black, Indigenous & People of Colour) peoples where different cultural & social experiences of diaspora & migrant communities in Vienna can be celebrated. We approach these events as interventions because we believe that queer and transgender BIPOC (QTBIPOC) folks are underrepresented & marginalised in Vienna’s club and nightlife scenes. We not only strive to build novel partnerships and collaborations for alternative venues, but we also focus on the productive work of generating resources, skills and experiences within the larger community to cultivate organisers & volunteers who can cater to our needs for safer dancefloors. And we hope to generate discourse and awareness around reclamation of contemporary club and dance cultures, aesthetics and experiences.
